How Covid-19 changed my life as an artist
It's just over halfway through 2020 and I'm reflecting on what's happened so far this year. Covid-19 has changed the world permanently, and there is still so much more to come.
A year ago, I was working a corporate job in a skyscraper in Center City Philadelphia. Every weekday, I would commute and work at my desk. Some days, I would travel for meetings in other cities. This left very little time for art making.
Now, I'm mostly confined to my home and creating my own working hours. I've spent the past few months converting my unfinished basement into a studio space. I've also redesigned two websites, including the one you're looking at!
Because of social distancing due to Covid-19, I've had extra time and space to put towards big projects that have set me up for ongoing art production. In the past month I've produced about two dozen artworks—half of those are originals.
I have a vision for the rest of 2020 and beyond. Covid-19, will unfortunately continue to rage, and I will use my extra me-time to build the part of my life devoted to art.
